Climbing on frozen waterfalls & icicles

Ice climbing is climbing on ice formations like frozen waterfalls and icicles. The climbers use crampons and ice tools (a special pickaxe), to climb in the ice. Ice climbing is a special discipline of alpine climbing or mountaineering, because you need alpine climbing skills. Therefore we use the same safety equipment as in (winter) rock climbing.
